Overview:
Another first for the Discovery Festival in 2017, the Banks and Solander exploration features a day of story telling and education inspired by the work of these two scientific pioneers.

The Banks florilegium display at Nature’s Powerhouse is an inspiring catalogue of the flora and fauna identified by Banks during the Endeavour’s 48 day stay in Cooktown and will complemented by botanical and historic tours of the Botanic Garden by Cooktown’s answer to Daniel Solander, Sandy Lloyd.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to hear first hand from Professor Darren Crayn, inaugural Director of the Australian Tropical Herbarium, a joint venture between James Cook University, CSIRO and the Queensland Government.

Nature’s Powerhouse café will be open throughout the day for coffee and lunch.
