Warrma – a celebration of Aboriginal Culture and Dance

Saturday 10 June, 5pm-7.30pm
Bicentennial Park, Charlotte Street, Cooktown

Admission:
Free

Overview:
The story of Cooktown and our region begins many, many years before the arrival of Captain Cook and his crew.

Join us for a traditional Warrma and corroboree under the stars to witness the first ever public performance of the Waymburr story.

Set against the backdrop of the sun setting on the Endeavour River, performers and artists from Hope Vale School, Yuku-Baja-Muliku Junior Rangers, Hope Vale Arts and Cultural Centre, supported by Alberta Hornsby and Harold Ludwig will present the ‘Last Spear Fight’ – a story told through dance, music and spoken word.

The performance will end with a traditional corroboree and the opportunity for you, the audience to join in some cultural dancing.
