The Cooktown Green Adventure Challenge is a street orienteering event on foot. Teams of 2-5 people are given a map with checkpoints and a clue sheet and one hour to find as many checkpoints as possible. The catch is the map has no street names or identifying words to guide you!
Teams must use basic navigation skills to locate checkpoints using the clues provided – no compass required.
Plot your course in any order to gain as many points as possible. The harder the checkpoint is to find, the more points it’s worth. Highest points wins, negative score for wrong answers.
Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
Bring the kids, pram or dog, but please no push bikes.
This event is a fundraiser for the local school Chaplaincy program.
Start at the Milbi Wall, next to the Cooktown boat ramp.
What to bring: Time keeping device, comfortable shoes and clothes – there may be some off road checkpoints!
Provided: Maps, clue sheet, water and snacks at the finish, navigation advice and PRIZES!
