Planning to enjoy the Cooktown Discovery Festival fireworks from the water?
Boat users are reminded that a temporary exclusion zone will be in place on Saturday 20 June 2026 from 1PM to 9PM for the festival’s spectacular fireworks display.
To ensure the event can be conducted safely, vessels must not enter, moor or operate within the exclusion zone, which is a 200m diameter circle adjacent to Bicentennial Park, as shown on the map above.
Whether you’re heading out for a day on the water, chasing a sunset, or looking for a great vantage point for the evening festivities, please factor the exclusion zone into your plans and allow plenty of time to navigate around the restricted area.
The temporary exclusion zone is an important safety measure designed to protect all waterway users during the fireworks display.
